The Oklahoma City Blazers and owner Jake Runey have announced the addition of Oklahoma City-native Tanner Karty to the Blazers coaching staff for 2020-21 as assistant coach.

Karty joins the Blazers after playing last season between the Southern Professional Hockey League and the ECHL with the Huntsville Havoc and Rapid City Rush respectively, scoring 30 points in 51 games.
Prior to his professional playing career, Karty spent four seasons at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where he won two National Titles, winning the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title all four seasons including an undefeated season in 2018-19 where he was captain and named the National Championship MVP. His college accolades include being named the WIAC Player of the Year in 2017-18, a First-Team All-American twice, and All-WIAC First Team twice.
Karty’s junior career was spent in the USHL with the Des Moines Buccaneers where he put up 111 points in 200 career USHL games, and was captain of the team for three of his four seasons.
Before his jump to the USHL, Karty was a member of the Dallas Stars U18 team in the T1EHL.
