The Oklahoma City Blazers and Texas RoadRunners returned to the ice on Saturday night, as they looked to close out their weekend series. Jacob Ahl returned to the night for OKC after shutting out the RoadRunners in the previous contest, while Texas turned to Hunter Hein in net.
Both teams held strong in the 1st period, as things ended scoreless after the period, and no penalties were called. OKC thought they may have hit the back of the net once, but it was ultimately ruled by the referee to have been kicked in and negated.
OKC opened up the scoring in the 2nd period, with Hunter Warner picking up a pass from Artem Korolev from behind the net, and Warner finding the back of the net. A similar story occurred a minute later, as William Wallace found the net for his first goal of the season, also from a pass by Korolev.
As the period ended, the referee assessed a major penalty and game misconduct to Wallace, putting OKC on the PK to start off the 3rd period. The Blazers PK came up strong, killing off the entire penalty, which led to Noah Henslee putting the Blazers up by a 3-0 score. As the game clock began to wind down, OKC had one more goal up their sleeve with Tristan Warr and Michael Onda connecting on a 2-on-1 rush. Onda received the final pass, sniping it in, and making it a 4-0 game, and final.
Jacob Ahl picked up the 20-save shutout, his second in as many nights, to improve to 2-0-0 on the season. Hunter Hein made 22 saves on 26 OKC shots, to fall to 1-1-0 this season.
The Blazers hit the road next weekend to take on the defending Fraser Cup champs in the Texas Brahmas, for a two-game set. OKC and the Brahmas hit the ice at 2:30p Central time on Saturday, 10/24.
