Blazers Earn First Shutout of Season, Defeat RoadRunners 6-0

The Oklahoma City Blazers returned to the ice for their second weekend of play in the NA3HL, as they welcomed the Texas RoadRunners to Arctic Edge Ice Arena for the first time. Both teams were coming off of successful opening weekends, picking up four points in the standings, and both sitting in first place atop the South Division Standings.

Jacob Ahl made his debut in net for the Blazers on Friday, as he faced off against Aiden Rudolf (1-0-0) for the RoadRunners.

OKC started the game hot, putting Rudolf to the test early as the Blazers put 16 shots on the board for the 1st period. Both Artem Korolev and Ben Mullen found the net in the period, giving OKC the 2-0 lead after one.

The 2nd period went the opposite way in the shots department, but ultimately went scoreless as neither team could find the back of the net. Texas held OKC to only three shots on goal in the 2nd, while putting up 10 of their own.

The floodgates opened in the 3rd period for the Blazers, as they closed things out with four goals. Korolev connected for his second goal of the game, while Hunter Warner potted a pair, and Tristan Warr netted his third of the season. As the final horn ended, the Blazers would jump into sole possession of first place in the standings behind the 6-0 win.

Jacob Ahl earned the first shutout of the season for the Blazers, the first in their NA3HL era, as he stopped all 19 shots faced. Aiden Rudolf picked up the loss in net, falling to 1-1-0 on the season, as he stopped 33 of 39 OKC shots.

Both teams return to the ice Saturday night, October 17th, to close out their two-game weekend set at Arctic Edge! Grab your tickets at https://okcityhockey.tix.com!
